We Have a Winner! - Dribbble Invite Contest

We have a winner!!! Gueorgui Tcherednitchenko is going to be drafted to Dribbble! Thanks for everyone who tried out! Just keep it up. I'm sure you'll get drafted next time the invites go out.

Here's Gueorgui's entry:

Songofsongs

Okay awesome. I think this will turn out great!

After listening to "Song of Songs" and reading the lyrics, rebound with the inspired design by Wednesday at 12PM EST and you will be drafted.

Post a link to the inspired design as a comment. I'll pick the best Wednesday afternoon.

Simple as that. I've also attached a promo photo and pieces of their logo to my latest dribbble shot. You can use them if you want or not all.

Good luck to you all!!

Smaller - A Tiny Mac App Review

Tonight I'm reviewing an app called, Smaller. It's built by Chen Luo as a 64-bit Cocoa application exclusively for the Mac which makes it super fast.

"Smaller is a Graphic User Interface for YUI Compressor on the Mac. It helps you batch minify CSS and JavaScript files with a nice drag and drop interface. It's a perfect tool for we Web designers and developers who are not big fans of command line."

There really is no thought to the process of adding files to it. Just drag and drop and you are good to go. It finds all files in the folder. When you're ready to "Minify", just hit ⌘ + ↵.

The preferences are simple. You have the option of adding a suffix to your minified files and where to save them.

Did I mention? You can also drag and drop the files or folder onto the Dock icon too.

As you can see it's perfect for on the go compressing files and folders. It's exactly what I've been looking for and I highly recommend you jump over and buy it at smallerapp.com for $15.

Gripe: Dead or Forgotten Twitter Accounts

Hello and welcome to my first post on Posterous! The last blog post I wrote was in 2008. Before that, I used to write weekly for my college's newspaper. We actually had two newspapers battling each other. One was censored by the college and the other run by a few of my close friends and myself. We spoke the truth and stuck to the facts. Both papers were staffed entirely by us. It was quite a feat that we actually published them both on time and kept up with our studies.

Whew that was a tangent. The post was originally a tweet but I'm finding myself more and more wanting to write beyond 140 characters. So my gripe is about Twitter's lack of clarity on dead and forgotten accounts and how it's soo hard to get an actual human response to a support request. I know I know you're thinking to yourself, "Art, ehh they're an international company that doesn't have time to respond to each little request". But they can least give an "actual" date to when they plan on burying these "dead birds".

I'm reaching out to the community to see if I could be one of the few that Twitter Support responds too. The band I manage, brotherbrother currently tweets from @brobrother but we'd really like to use @brotherbrother. As you can see below, this guy or gal has not tweeted nor followed any one. I've sent follow requests to no avail since Spring 2009. To prove that we actually have the right to it. Go ahead and google "brotherbrother", the band is the top result. :)

So could you guys and gals help me by sharing this post because I know we both share the same gripe.

By the way, do yourself a favor and listen to the band. They're pretty rock solid awesome if you like Dave Barnes, http://brotherbrother.me
